Day Eight: Friday

Day Eight ~ Friday, May 3

I had a bit of a scare today. I temporarily lost my passport (and the whole pouch) but found it in the public library at Penrith. I guess I had left it after sending that email the other day.
It was very fortunate that we had about 20 minutes between busses where Hollis and I could run up. That 40 minute bus ride was a terrifying 40 minutes wondering if it was there at the library of if Hollis and I were going to have to go up to Carlisle while everyone else went up to Keswick (pronounced Kesick).
And that was nother thing that went wrong. We were supposed to go to Windermere, but the bus that normally runs wasn’t running (I think because of the holiday this weekend). But eventually we made it to Keswick. The first thing we did was a brief, but very steep hike up to a vista. It was a cool view of the town and neighboring towns and the lake. But then we went back down and toured the town for a bit.
I was able to walk into an outdoor gear shop. I was afraid it would be like REI (and I guess it was) but it had some sweet deals. I got two wicking shirts, one a tee and one base layer. Normally 35£, I got it for 17£. Not bad. Then it was time to go back. A 40 minute ride to Penrith and a 40 minute ride to Glenridding, and a hike up to the Hostel, and it was time for dinner and evening program.
Now we are watching a very strange, but hilarious movie called Clerks, I believe. But that’s it for tonight.
