Day Nineteen: Tuesday

Day Nineteen – Tuesday, May 14

Lazy day! At last! We had breakfast at around 8:30 a.m. A chance to sleep in a little from the last few days. Then we had “morning” meeting and I got a surprise announcement that I would be Leader of the Day.
We got ready for heading into town to get some lunch. There was one point of contention that led me getting some valuable advice as a trip leader, which I will definitely take as my own for the future. Thank you to Hollis.
By 11 we made our way over to town, actually arriving at 11:30. The chefs had to search a bit, as the normal supermarket was closed. This led to us getting delicious fruits and veggies from a farmer’s market.
Lunch was fantastic: multiple meats, cheeses, veggies. I was impressed. Then by 1 p.m. our group had really cleaned up for itself and was ready to go around town.
Most of us went into the same café, if for no other reason than all the others were closed for the afternoon. A cultural thing for European mountain towns I guess. After people had their coffees and teas and apple juice (me), most of us made our way back to the Gitet.
Some people hung out by the lakes others went for a walk up to a famous local church, and I napped and wrote. It was beautiful.
People had to be back at 6 for dinner at 6:30, which they did. Dinner was lamb. It tasted very good. No thanks to Sean J. for getting us there late. He got mixed up in his directions!
Then we came back to our room for probably the most serious evening meeting and LoD reflection that we’ve ever had. Thanks everyone.
