Poetry Workshop III

After two and a half years, I finally got to fulfill a compliment I received after first arriving at College. After my first creative writing class, Poetry I with Joy Manesiotis, I received a comment on my portfolio saying she hoped she’d take another class with me in it, and see how much I would grow as a writer. Well, it finally happened.

In retrospect, I took this course the same time I went through RYG’s indoctrination process. I’ll just say, often times, I dreaded this class more than the process. It felt like boot camp. But… I learned a lot, and I like the poetry that resulted from this course. At least… better than what I produced my freshman year anyway!

The portfolio is not a collection of all my semester’s work, but rather a selection of two poems, and to see how far I could push these two specifically, substantially revising them each step of the way.

Enjoy!
