Day Nine: Saturday

Day Nine ~ Saturday, May 4

One more journal to write today. Personal journals, group journals and field journal. A lot of writing for one day.
Today started out as normal: 7:30 a.m. cold breakfast, 8:00 a.m. hot breakfast. After breakfast I sat down to do some personal writing. I got a cut a little short because the head-down-early-crew ended up being the everyone-crew. I guess everyone was just more prepared earlier.
We were at the bus station at around 9:30 for a 10:18 a.m. bus. In that time, we looked around some shops and cafés, the chefs picked up a morning snack (an assortment of cookies). Then we got on the bus for 45 minutes over to Windermere. We kicked off the tour with cookie snacks, and then did our hike up to this vista that overlooked the Lakes District. We took our packs off, enjoyed the view and ate some fruit bars and “Biscuit moments”(an inside joke, AND the name of an actual fruit bar).
Then we hiked back down into town. From there, we split into groups. I went with Charlotte, Stephanie and Blaine. Charlotte and Stephanie parted ways over to a café, while Blaine and I went on to the Post Office, only to find it had closed by this time. So instead, we went to the Pharmacy. He needed to pick up some Tiger Balm for his foot. The first one we tried was closed, but the second one was good.
Then it was time to leave. We caught the 2:32 p.m. bus to Glenridding where some people got off at Patterdale to go hike some more. I heard that even that group split into two, and one half (that did the harder hike) got lost. (For a bit).
In that time I was at the Hostel, I showered, wrote in the group journal as recorder, wrote in my personal journal, and watched Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Dinner was the sausage that I had the first night I was here. A lot of people claim that visually the spiral pattern of it looks like poop. Well… it tasted delicious (and far away from that) either way! Dessert was apple crumble, but without custard this time.
For evening meeting, I read off my journal entry, and I guess people were impressed. “Written like a writer” and “You need to send me your book when you’ve written it.” Those were some compliments that I got. Well, aw shucks. Thanks guys. That’s all I got for tonight.
